The visible feature was only the surface

Turning an existing web product into an Android app can silently drop routes, states, integrations, and recovery paths when implementation starts before product capabilities are inventoried.

The system also had to respect concrete constraints. Every web capability needs an explicit Android disposition and evidence trail. Platform adaptation must preserve product behavior without forcing browser interaction patterns onto Android. Deferred and unsupported capabilities must remain visible rather than disappearing from scope.

My role covered agent workflow design and automation engineering, with responsibility for mobile development, deterministic validation, and portable distribution.

I turned the constraints into boundaries

Repository discovery and capability inventory; parity manifest with explicit dispositions and dependencies; Android adaptation guidance plus deterministic closure validation.

Establish the complete product surface before choosing Android architecture or UI patterns.

Use a structured manifest so omitted capabilities and unresolved dependencies fail validation.

Preserve user outcomes while translating navigation, permissions, storage, and platform services to Android conventions.

The key decision: Inventory before implementation.

The implementation had to prove the model

I delivered the work across the full path: Designed an evidence-backed web capability discovery workflow. Defined the parity manifest and dependency model. Implemented deterministic manifest validation. Documented Android-specific adaptation and verification gates.

The result is concrete: Agents can expose parity gaps before implementation begins. Every capability receives a reviewable Android disposition. Deferred work remains explicit and justified. Parity claims require evidence instead of visual similarity alone.

The senior engineering lesson was that solving the visible workflow is only half the job. The architecture must also make constraints, failure modes, evidence, and ownership explicit enough for the next change to remain safe.
